Employment Rights Bill could make it more difficult for employers to arrange cover during strike action

Chris Coombes, Senior Associate, said: "Certainly, for employers who need to arrange cover during periods of industrial action, it will be more difficult to do so with less information about what sort of employees will be taking part in the strike."

The Government’s workers’ rights overhaul could make it more difficult for employers to find cover during strikes and walkouts as unions will no longer be required to tell managers which departments the strikers work in and will also no longer need to meet a legal threshold of a 50% turnout in a ballot to hold a strike.

Chris Coombes, Senior Associate at the employment law firm, Littler, said: “Certainly, for employers who need to arrange cover during periods of industrial action, it will be more difficult to do so with less information about what sort of employees will be taking part in the strike.”
