Environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives are often led by HR teams, whether in whole or in part. If they are not responsible for the entire ESG plan, they will usually be responsible for at least the “S” (social) components.
Consequently, HR teams will typically be tasked with oversight of a range of ESG elements including worker health & safety, IED (inclusion, equality and diversity), equal pay auditing, whistleblowing, anti-harassment and anti-bullying programmes, supply chain management and prevention of modern slavery, anti-bribery regimes, and business & human rights plans.
